Overview
The Berlin Marathon is one of the World Marathon Majors, held every year on the last Sunday of September in Berlin, Germany.
Starting from the Tower of Victory, the course goes around the Berlin Wall, the Wilhelm Memorial Church and other historical sites, runs through the city of Berlin, and finishes at the Brandenburg Gate, which was not possible during the Cold War. It is one of the highest speed courses in the world because it is a flat course with a height difference of 20m.
Many world records and many of the fastest records of all categories have been achieved at this Berlin Marathon.

Course
The Berlin Marathon course is famous for being one of the fastest in the world, due to its flat profile. It winds its way through the historic city center of Berlin, taking runners past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, and Gedächtniskirche (Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church).
The course is a loop course, starting and finishing at the Brandenburg Gate. The first half of the course takes runners east through the city center, before turning around at the halfway point and heading back west.
The course is well-supported with aid stations every few kilometers, providing runners with water, sports drinks, and gels. There are also plenty of spectators along the route, creating a great atmosphere for runners.
