Overview
The Akron Marathon is a marathon race that has been held since 1983 in the city of Akron on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio, USA.
Start in downtown Akron and pass the All-America Bridge within a mile of the first. It then follows the trail through the Akron Art Museum, University of Akron, Firestone Park, Towpath Trail, Sand Run Parkway, Stan Hywet estate and Highland Square.
It’s not flat or fast, but the diversity of the course will satisfy marathon novices and veterans alike.
Akron is known as the “Rubber Capital” because of its prosperous rubber industry. In the early 20th century, many rubber-related companies, including Goodyear Tires and Firestone Tires, had headquarters and factories in Akron.
It is also an attractive city that combines the best of nature, history and culture with easy access to big cities such as Cleveland and Detroit.

Course
The Akron Marathon course starts in downtown Akron and winds its way through many of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods, including Firestone Park, the University of Akron, and Highland Square.
